During the unveiling of the Kia EV9, English model Jodie Kidd was electrocuted with one million volts.

In a death-defying stunt, model and auto fanatic Jodie Kidd was electrocuted with more than a million volts in London.

Jodie was able to control the electricity with her fingertips and discharge streams of lightning from her palms while seated on an elevated platform and only shielded from a "lightning machine" by a chainmail Faraday suit that conducted electricity around her.

With the introduction of Kia's new six- or seven-seat EV9, the "lightning" picture was later blended with images of a futuristic-looking Jodie.

The EV9 has a range of up to 480 km on a single charge, ultra-rapid charging, and "vehicle-to-load" technology that lets it power nearly anything with a 3-pin socket.

At the same time, according to recently released data commissioned by Kia, more than 26% of parents have been persuaded to purchase an electric vehicle by their children (kidd, get it? There is no coincidence).

36% of them attributed it to their children learning about environmental issues at school, and 35% said their children want one because they are hip. A third (33%) of people say their favourite TV shows and YouTubers have inspired them.

The study of 2,000 adults indicated that 87% of the parents surveyed had looked into the potential of purchasing one as a result of these interactions.

Also, 40% of the drivers surveyed are thinking about switching to a more environmentally friendly car.

The most frequent motivating factor for this (46%) is the environment, and 29% are considering it because of the new regulation that forbids the sale of new petrol and diesel cars after 2030.

The majority of drivers predict they will purchase an electric vehicle by 2026 on average.

The brand-new EV9 SUV from Kia offers enormous interior and cargo capacity along with up to seven seats in a three-row layout.

Kia, like many other EV automakers, promotes the sustainability message.

The EV9's interior is devoid of leather and made up largely of recycled PET plastic made from materials like fishing nets and plastic bottles.

Getting "electrocuted" was one of the most terrifying things Kidd had ever experienced, but it was also such a wonderful sensation. Not many people can say they have received a million volts through their body and been able to shoot lightning with their fingers!"

"As a father, I well understand how crucial the environment is to the coming generation. My son Indio and I have discussed many ways we may live more sustainably, including getting an electric automobile.

At the introduction of Kia's new fully electric automobile, the EV9, this prank was all about praising electricity and how the future of transportation is electric. It is ideal for family outings because of its range of more than 300 miles (480 km), ultra-rapid charging, and three-pin plug compatibility. It can even be used to boil a kettle so you may pause and have a cup of tea.

The EV9 is one of 15 fully electric cars that Kia will introduce internationally by 2027 and is the company's new electric vehicle flagship.

In the UK, it starts at £64,995 (RM381,000).
